Shear end welder is mainly applied at tube mill line. It shears the irregular parts of the tail and head of the coil before and after, and butt weld them. After the completion of butt welding, the welded strip is fed into the accumulator for continuous production.
When a coil is about to be finished feeding to the accumulator or tube mill, the tail of it is left at the exit area of shear end welder. The rear center aligning mechanism connected through screw rods clamp and align the strip with the center line of the machine. The two pinching rolls located at the rear of the machine finely adjuste to position right at shear blade the strip tail where the irregular parts needs to be sheared off. The shearing platens drop to compress and then the shear blade drops driven by hydraulic cylinder to complete the shearing. The head of the next coil coming from uncoiler and flattener enters at the entrance area of shear end welder. The front center aligning mechanism clamps the head and aligns it with the center lines of the tail at the exit area, and then the irregular parts of the coil head are passed forward to be positioned right at the shearing place where it overlap the sheared tail up and down. After the shearing compression platens drop to compress it tightly, the shear blade cutd off the irregular parts. The shearing device is withdrawn, the welding base plate is raised, a welding seam is automatically left between the coil tail and head. The welding unit moves to the welding position, right and left compression platens drop down to compress the ends tightly, welding gun is positioned to point at the weld seam, then the automatic butt welding starts. After the completion of welding, the entire process reset to wait for the next work cycle.
