The main function of the decoiler is to receive the steel coils transported by the loading trolley, support the coils, and open the coils to feed them to the flattener or the next work process. It is one of the important equipment in the welded tube production line, preparing the steel strip for the tube mill to start.

 To start, place the steel coil on the coil preparation saddle. The V-shaped loading trolley driven by the inverter motor moves on two guide rails. The hydraulically actuated elevator lifts the coil to the drums/cantilevers of the uncoiler. The drums or conehead driven by hydraulic cylinder or electric motor, move through the inner of the coil to support the coil. The expansion and contraction device starts to work, tightening the inner coil, and the hold down roll falls down to compress the top outer coil. The hold down roll rotates, in cooperation with the extension of the peeler head, to open the coil head that then to be straightened by the coil head straightener. The coil head then moves on to the flattener, or the next work process. The drum or conehead of the uncoiler can be designed to rotate actively or passively.
